Southwest Public Schools is igniting the spirit of diversity and inclusivity this February as we mark the annual observance of Black History Month with a series of engaging events and educational initiatives. Throughout the district, students, educators, and community members alike are coming together to honor the rich cultural heritage and significant contributions of African Americans to our society.
In classrooms across the district, educators are incorporating special lessons and activities that spotlight the achievements and struggles of African Americans throughout history. From highlighting the remarkable achievements of trailblazers like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. to delving into the profound impact of the Civil Rights Movement, students are gaining a deeper understanding of the pivotal role African Americans have played in shaping our nation.
As the month-long celebration continues, Southwest Public Schools is excited to announce our inaugural African American quiz bowl competition taking place on February 28th between our elementary campuses. Stay tuned for the winners!
