Southwest Public Schools is thrilled to announce three teachers were honored as finalists for the Houston Area Association Bilingual Education (HAABE) ESL Teacher of the Year award. Ms. Vivian Espinal, Mr. Daniel Garcia, and Ms. Juany Moreno’s dedication and exceptional work in education have been recognized by HAABE, showcasing their commitment to serving our diverse student population.
HAABE officially acknowledged the teachers’ achievements via Twitter, stating, "Congratulations! Introducing our 2024 HAABE ESL Teacher of the Year (TOY) Finalists! @swschoolstx." This recognition underscores the teachers outstanding contributions to bilingual and ESL education and their tireless efforts to support English language learners in our district.
HAABE’s recognition comes as part of Southwest Public Schools' ongoing celebration of educators who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of their students. We are immensely proud of these teachers’ accomplishments and the positive impact they have made in our school community.
Moreover, we are eagerly anticipating the upcoming announcement of the Southwest Public Schools' Support Staff of the Year and Teacher of the Year on May 15, 2024. The Teacher of the Year will have the opportunity to compete at the regional level, representing our district and showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of our educators.
